Description

LiteWing is a compact WiFi-controlled drone built around the ESP32-S3 microcontroller, designed for hobbyists, students, and engineers who want to learn, experiment, and build custom flight applications. Unlike traditional drones that require a dedicated transmitter, LiteWing connects directly to your Android or iOS smartphone for easy control, and it can also be programmed and monitored from a PC using Python with Crazyflie cflib support. The drone features a lightweight and durable FR4 PCB frame measuring 100 mm × 100 mm and weighing approximately 45 g without battery, making it ideal for indoor testing and development projects. It uses 720 coreless DC motors with PWM control for smooth flight performance and supports optional sensors such as ToF and optical flow modules for height hold and position hold functionality. The open-source hardware and firmware allow full customization, with schematics and source files available for modification. To ensure reliable operation, use a compatible 3.7 V 1S Li-Po battery with the recommended discharge rating, mount components securely, and store the drone in a dry place away from moisture and dust when not in use.
